Research and Planning: Introduction to Indesign

This was my first introduction to 'Indesign' and I was told that for this lesson I had to create a document that showed a review of a current film or dvd. The first thing I did was to open up Indesign and and open up a document and I left the default settings as they were. I then went onto 'Google' and opened up a picture of the new 'Sherlock Holmes' DvD as this is what I was going to do my review on. I then selected the 'rectangle tool' and pulled it around the document and changed the colour to blue. I then clicked on the 'layout' tool and selected columns and margins and selected how many I wanted. After I'd done this I then clicked on the 'text' tool and typed in the title on my top row. I then had to paste the text into the document I did this by clicking on 'file' then i clicked on 'place' and opened up the review I'd pasted from the 'Empire' Website from my folder. Whilst pasting the text in the columns I had to click on a red '+' button that would let you copy the rest of the text into the other columns. After this was done I did the same again for the Picture of the Film Sherlock Holmes. After I'd placed this picture I then clicked on 'object' in the tool bar and clicked on 'fitting' then 'Fit Content to Frame'. Once this was done I clicked on object once again and then clicked on 'effects' and clicked on 'drop shadow' and others that were there. Then for the final finish I clicked on text once again and typed in the No. 1 so the reader would know what page they were reading.
