Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Analysis


This story is about Lily Allen defending herself from comments made by other artists.
The layout of this magazine shows the genre punk/rock. The title of this article has been done by cutting out letters and then putting them altogether. They are all bold and in capitals, highlighting that Lily Allen is angry with the comments that have been said about her. She is wearing a checkered shirt which is red, black and green, conveying the colours of punk. The shot is a medium close-up. The way she has been placed shows that she is not happy and the body language is showing that she really doesn't care whats been said about her and is telling the people who made the comment that their wrong. the colours all fit together being black and red, also can be used as colours to represent anger.
The genre of this magazine layout is punk/rock.
The colours used stand out as the background is a plain white. This makes the red and black more dominant on the page and easy to see. The article is done in columns and the article is not about Lily Allen's music, but is actually talking about her life outside of that and what people think of her. The structure shows a title on one side and the picture on the other which takes up the space of half a page showing how important this image is. Then there is the article itself which is done in a small font so that more information can be put down on the page. The article is also under the title so its right there in the reader's face.
This article reaches its target audience as the colours represent the genre of the music Lily Allen is involved with. It also has connotations such as the colours represent anger and darkness at whoever has annoyed this artist and it also represents the actual people who listen ot this type of music and associate themselves with this style of clothing.
