Research and Planning: Final Drafts

These are the final drafts of my music magazine: The Front Cover, Contents Page and Double Page Spread.

Research and Planning: Evaluation Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

These are the images of my first magazine that I created and my music magazine.
I have learnt a lot more technology now for example when creating my college magazine I didn't cut around images at all like I can now, and the I didn't ever use the spot healing tool. Now I also have learnt how to create shapes on photoshop as well as moving layers around more appropriately.

My photographs are also different for example I now know that it is best to use a medium close up for the front cover of a magazine and I know how to use different angles with a camera and I know how to make sure my pictures don't go distorted when they are placed in photoshop. When I made my college magazine I just placed the images in photoshop I now know how to open the image in photoshop and cut around it then select the move tool and drag it over to the other document.

When making my college magazine as you can see all my font is big as I was trying to take up space as I didn't know how to make boarders and put in other items as I do now. As you can see on my music magazine cover there are many different types of font and I understand when it should be big and when it should be small. I also now understand what type of font to have for a specific genre, as you can see on my college magazine the colour doesn't match the magazine at all and the font doesn't look like the right thing to advertise college courses.

I also understand genre's better and what goes with that, as you well know because I have changed my music magazine from one genre to something else as my pictures didn't match and neither did the models I had uses, however as I understood genre's I realised I could still make the pictures work when changing the style of he magazine.

The layout of my college magazine is very bland and besides one image and text there is absolutely nothing else, now on my music magazine as you can tell there's images that I have created e.g. arrows, the shape at the side with the 'Top 25 Artists In The World Right Now', there's the rectangle behind the title and the shape in which the pug has been placed. The picture I have used is also not stretched like my college magazine image was, but fits nicely and the image matches the article title as well.

Research and Planning: Evaluation Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have used Prezi for my evaluation and for my publication plan the technology on it allowed me to upload images and add text to annotate it.

I have used Flickr to also upload images and annotate them as well and then I uploaded this work onto my blog.

I have used slideshare to change a powerpoint into the correct format so that I can upload it onto my blogger for my evaluation.

I have used photoshop to create my front cover, contents page and double page spread: the tools on it have been very useful to help me manipulate images and create other items.

I have used indesign to create a 'contents' page which in class we took the text off a certain film review website. I also started to use it to create my contents page for my music magazine, however it didn't look right so I switched to photoshop.

I have used iPhoto on several occasions to import my images from the SLR's on to the photo's section and them import them into my folder so that I could upload them onto blogger and place them in photoshop as well as Prezi, Powerpoint and Flickr.

I have used the SLR Camera's to take my photos for my music magazine.

I have used facebook to gain audience feedback, I took screengrabs of my drafts and uploaded them onto facebook so that I could see people's reactions to my music magazine - Shuffle.

Research and Planning: Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

Research and Planning: Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product? Why?

My magazine is aimed at an audience of people aged between 16-21 - mainly students. They would buy this magazine so that they can find out whats happening in the world of Indie music - their favourite genre. It also provides information about other bands, gigs and the latest style, therefore meeting the average student's needs.

Research and Planning: Evaluation question 2

How does your media product represent social groups?

.Both of these images represent the same group if 'Indie' style and practically are the same image. The posture is the same on both images as they are both relaxed, however from there expressions there is a hint that there is some other motive.

.The gesture of the image from NME is different in some ways as on the image that I have taken the hands are by the model's hands - casual and relaxed. On the image of Matt Bellamy taken from NME has his hands together and looks like he's plotting something.

.The angle on both of these images are eye level so that the audience can see directly the main image and whats happening.

.Both of the shot types are of a medium close up so that the audience can see the face of the model and they can see a little more, the clothes they are wearing and the posture of their upper bodies.

.The lighting on both of these images in high key once again connecting with the audience, this has been done so that the viewers can see the image perfectly. And like my image the background of the NME cover is also a little distorted.

.The costume used on each model is casual as they are both wearing a cardigan, however the one on my image has a hood showing a different style mingled in with Indie perhaps.

.The expression on both of these images look smug and they both look like they are plotting or are about to do something that's good for them.

.The hair on both of the models uses is casual and is straight and then moved to different sides.

.From both of these images it is clear to see that my front cover image is almost identical to the one used on NME which means that I can connect to the audience I want as NME does focus on the Indie/Rock style and from my image I can reach that audience as well.

.The differences however are obviously different on story-lines as Matt Bellamy is in the band - Muse - which is mentioned in my contents and is used on my front cover, whereas Link has left his band and is going solo.

Research and Planning: Upcoming Work

I have not done any blogs lately as I have not been able to do anything with my magazine pieces until I get my final shots for it. I have had to take my shots all over again As some of the positions of others caused people to be cut out. I also need to change the location of my front cover and double page spread shots.
I hope to get this done by this week and after that I will then be able too complete all three pieces of work finished.
I also hope to get the video of my location recces as well. I also need too get my permission sheets all signed.

Research and Planning: Drafts of Shuffle and Audience Feedback

I have once again changed my magazine style to this:

This is now my front cover - I have changed the complete genre of my magazine as well. This is because the shots I have taken did not match 'electro pop', I did further research on other music magazines and came across 'NME' and realised then that my images more fit a genre of 'Indie'.

This is now my contents page - the shots I have taken and the style of the clothes used can fit the genre of 'Indie' more so than electro pop. I have added a 'follow us' for other social networking sites, as this is what many business's/companies do nowadays. I have followed a strict colour scheme of black, red, white and yellow. these colours all fit well together and now my magazine does look more professional.

This is now my double page spread - Once again I have followed my colour scheme, the title for the article is in bold and has a 'rock' attitude as it is in big block letters. The images more represent the the story of what's happening and match the text. The quote -'It does get lonely sometimes' matches the lone image and the model - 'Link' does look all alone. The one other image also matches the text as he looks upset and the text at that point is going over Link speaking to us about his break up and split from his band.

Research and Planning: Today's Work

This is the work I have done today. I have changed the font size on my text and have moved my page numbers too the bottom of the page and have now moved my columns of text away from the sides of the page therefore creating more marginal space.

Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Final Draft

The font for this article will stay the same as will the font. The picture will go where I have placed it now. I obviously need to edit it. However I may not have one whole picture but instead have three head shots on top of each other.

Research and Planning: Final draft of contents

The colour of the text and the background rectangle behind that is all I am going to change on this. The pictures still need to be sorted, but this is where I am going to place them. I need to blend a shoe on one of my models feet in the 'tangle chicks' picture and also need to select and cut out my other model for 'RachiDi' style tips.

Research and Planning: Final draft of Front Cover

This is the final draft of my front cover. The fonts will not be kept the same as I have only put them as bright colours because my image background is quite dark and you cannot see the black font.

Research and Planning: Today's Work

Today's work has consisted of me using the 'polygonal' tool to cut around an image in photo shop and then paste it in a new document. I then started too use the eraser to get rid of any other imperfections.

Researach and Planning: Props and Costumes used.

These are some of the pictures of the clothes and props I have used.

Research and Planning: Final Shots for Cover and double Page Spread

These are the pics that I am definitely going to use for my front cover and double page spread. The Location I have kept the same 'Werenth Low' I have used this Location as even though it does not represent electro pop to regular conventions. This is an open space, and this sort of music is produced to show teens/young adults freedom. It has an upbeat that is fast paced for people who are fun and like to dance.
